structural silicone sealed glazed units laminate glass

STRUCTURAL SILICONE SEALED GLAZED UNITS & LAMINATED GLASS

We manufacture the largest double, triple & quadruple silicone sealed glazed units available in the UK.

Silicone Sealing is an alternate form for the primary edge sealant used to hold the 2 panes of glass together encapsulating the spacer bar frame creating the double glazed unit.

Silicone Sealing is primarily used on commercial applications where glass edge to glass edge systems are being used or where the sealed edge of the DGU is open to direct sunlight. The silicone sealant offers a guarantee against the effect of UV radiation and ensures the warrantied life time of the DGU.

We can supply large double and triple glazed silicone sealed units.
We also manufacture resin multi laminated toughened glass panels.

FIRE RETARDANT GLAZED UNITS

The Pyroguard range of fire resisting glass was originally established as a laminated Georgian Wired glass which added (uniquely at the time) impact safety to the benefits of fire integrity resistance. The patented manufacturing process injected a special resin between layers of glass into which wire mesh had been laid. Painted (powder coated) wires were also possible to provide an alternative appearance to the plain steel wire mesh.

From 1993 onwards the process was developed to use an alternative resin, which would operate as a fire resistant pane, with impact safety but without the wire mesh.

About Pyroglass

Pyroglass is sometimes specified in fire risk areas, such as dividing doors in commercial buildings, internal screens where walls are not wanted in extensions. They are classified by two different requirements, one being integrity and the second being insulation. Integrity relates to the length of time the glass remains in one piece to protect the risk area while a fire is burning. The insulation relates to the heat and radiation penetration through the glass.
Pyroglass is:

  • Compatible with most intumescent putties and strips.
  • UV stable therefore can be used externally without added laminated.
  • Impact rating class 3B3 to EN 12600 and class B to BS 2606 ref BSI BG0030044/1-2.
  • Radiation controlling by effect of resin interlayer.

The pyroglass range is available in 30/60/120 minute versions depending upon the requirements specified by architects or councils.
The Pyro range is now also available with Satin, Master and Stippolyte finish.

GLAZING OPTIONS

Privacy or Decorative Glass
This can be Textured, Etched, Sandblasted, or Opaque.
Security Glazing
Float Annealed glass with film applied to it or Laminated glass. Installing security glass requires an alternative emergency escape route in the case of a fire.
Safety Glass
This can be either Laminated, Toughened, Wired or Float Annealed glass with safety film applied to it. Safety glass is a mandatory requirement for new installations within 800mm of the floor in windows and partitions, and within 1500mm of the floor in doors and side panels. The glazing should be marked in the corner with BS6206.
Self Cleaning Glass
This is not 100% maintenance free, but it will not need to be cleaned as frequently or thoroughly as conventional glass. Self cleaning glass can be made with a Ritec Coating added to the glass prior to glazing, or with glass that has had a transparent coating applied during the manufacture process.
Low Emissivity Glass or Low-E glass (Energy saving)
The glass must be used in a double glazed window so that the special reflective coating, which is placed inside the cavity is  protected from any damage
Pilkington K Glass™ S & Planitherm® Total +
This is a soft coated glass which can be used in annealed form or toughened, resulting in a product with the same thermal performance and neutral appearance. Once fabricated into an IGU, it can be used in windows in all types of glazing applications in new houses, conservatories and in replacement windows for existing homes.
In addition to the above glazing options there are a number of further optional choices available:-
Low-E Advanced
Upgrading the Low E glass to one of new advanced higher performance Low E Glass with a clearer view through the glass.
Active Solutions
Upgrading the unit to add additional active solutions such as Self Clean

Argon Gas

Adding Argon Gas into the cavity between the two glass panels can increase the thermal efficiency of the unit and in some cases help improve the acoustic properties.

This comes as standard with all of our units.

Frameless Structural Glass Balustrade

We manufacture and install structural glass balustrade for both residential homes and commercial properties.
The introduction of Argon gas into the cavity of a double glazed unit reduces the heat conductance between the panes, helping to keep more heat in during the winter and out in the summer. As a result living and working conditions become more comfortable the whole year round. The thermal insulation is further improved by using a Low e energy saving glass on one side of the sealed unit.

This combination of Argon Gas and Low e energy saving glass can achieve an improvement in thermal performance in the region of 50% over and above that of a standard sealed unit. The standard gas used for thermal insulation is Argon. Apart from its heat insulation properties, Argon is non-toxic, sunlight stable, non corrosive, colourless and odourless.
